SC SENTINEL: Shakespeare Santa Cruz season continues with ‘Two Gents’

Santa Cruz Shakespeare continues its summer season this weekend with the opening of the last of its three productions running in repertory, the romantic comedy “The Two Gentlemen of Verona,” widely considered to be Shakespeare’s first written play.

“Two Gents” is playing alongside the Hitchcockian comedy “The 39 Steps” and Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure” at the Grove at Delaveaga Park, through Sept. 3. Also presented will be a limited-production “fringe” performance of Voltaire’s “Candide” by SCS’s interns Aug. 23, 29 and 30.

Tickets for “Two Gents” are $42 to $55 regular; $37 to $50 SCS members; $40 to $53 for seniors (62-plus) and military; $20 students, ages 6 to 18. For more information, go to
