The opening of Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s production of Patrick Barlow’s adaptation of “The 39 Steps” will kick off “Hitchcock Week” at SCS. Other than the official opening of the new production on Saturday, July 8 at the Grove at DeLaveaga Park, here are some other activities planned for the week:
Friday, July 7, a Q&A with the cst and director of “The 39 Steps” takes place at noon at the Nickelodeon, 210 Lincoln St., Santa Cruz. It’s free.
Monday, July 10, Hitchcock’s “The Birds” will be screened outdoors at Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery, free and open to the public. The brewery is at 402 Ingalls St., Santa Cruz. Showtime is 8 p.m.
Tuesday, July 11, Santa Cruz’s downtown Public Library will present “Hitchcock: A Look Back” with film critic Lisa Jensen and UC Santa Cruz professor Maria Frangos, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 224 Church St., Santa Cruz. It’s free.
Wednesday, July 12 features a screening of Hitchcock’s “Psycho” at the Nickelodeon at 7 p.m., with an introduction by Hitchcock granddaughter Tere Carruba.
Thursday, July 13, there will be a free screening of Hitchcock’s “Vertigo” at the Crepe Place, 1134 Soquel Ave., Santa Cruz, at 8:30 p.m.
