Allie Pratt and Karen Peakes portray Lizzy and Jane Bennett during a dress rehearsal of Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s staging of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ at the Audrey Stanley Grove at Delaveaga Park in Santa Cruz. The festival continues a tradition of bringing plays by William Shakespeare and others to Santa Cruz County in outdoor performances since 1981. Along with ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Kate Hamill (adapted from the novel by Jane Austin), the festival’s 2019 offerings include Shakespeare’s ‘The Comedy of Errors’ and ‘The Winter’s Tale.” Santa Cruz Shakespeare productions run through Sept. 1 at The Grove named for the festival’s founding artistic director. The festival also presents ‘The Two Noble Kinsman’ performed by the festival’s interns and two staged readings. For more information, visit www.santacruzshakespeare.org.
