“Directed by Paul Mullins, however, this new universe isn’t just acceptable; it’s wonderful. Even when plot mechanics consume much of the second act, the energy of the first is so giddy, so explosive, that you can ride its wave through all manner of news-bearing letters, extraordinary coincidences, unexpected visits and conveniently timed revelations.” – SF Chronicle

“It’s a delightfully witty story to begin with, and this cheeky take on it is an absolute triumph.”
– San Jose Mercury News

“Kate Hamill’s madcap romp through the jewel in Jane Austen’s literary crown, Pride and Prejudice, had the Santa Cruz Shakespeare opening night audience laughing out loud. A lot.”
– Good Times

“There’s an undeniably airy quality you come to expect when you see a Santa Cruz Shakespeare play, and SCS’s first show of the 2019 season, “Pride and Prejudice,” doesn’t disappoint.”
– Santa Cruz Sentinel

Pride and Prejudice

By Kate Hamill
adapted from the novel by Jane Austen
Directed by Paul Mullins

Jane Austen’s most famous story is retold by eight actors playing multiple roles. Fast-paced, off-beat, and irreverent, Kate Hamill’s adaptation will wriggle its way into your heart.
