SANTA CRUZ SHAKESPEARE 2017 41 Kevin Matthew Reyes (Claudio, Pompey, Measure for Measure; Thurio, The Two Gentlemen of Verona) is performing at Santa Cruz Shakespeare for the first time. Regional credits include Kiss (Odyssey Theatre), Lord of the Flies and Stay Lit (Steppenwolf Theatre Company), The World of Extreme Happiness (Goodman Theatre), Bel Canto (Lyric Opera of Chicago), All Our Tragic (The Hypocrites), Solstice (A Red Orchid Theatre), Balm In Gilead (Griffin Theatre), and Mahal (Bailiwick Chicago). He is a project collaborator on hitRECord.org, and graduated from UC San Diego and The School at Steppenwolf. Kevin was the recipient of Victory Gardens’ inaugural Directors Initiative in 2016, and is proud to be represented by Cohn/Torgan Management. Mike Ryan* (Santa Cruz Shakespeare Artistic Director; Clown 1, The 39 Steps) first came to Santa Cruz in 1997 to play Silvius in As You Like It and Piotr in The Forest at Shakespeare Santa Cruz. That season launched a long career with SSC; he appeared in over 35 productions with the company before it was closed at the end of 2013. Along with Marco Barricelli and the Shakespeare Play On Board of Directors, he founded Santa Cruz Shakespeare in early 2014 and served as Co-Artistic Director for the new non-profit theatre company in its inaugural year before taking over as sole Artistic Director at the end of that season. In addition to his acting work with both Santa Cruz Shakespeare and its predecessor, Bay Area audiences may also know him from performances with American Conservatory Theatre, San Jose Repertory Theatre, Jewel Theatre Company, and Aurora Theatre Company. He has also appeared at Laguna Playhouse, Pasadena Playhouse, Denver Center Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Geva Theatre Center, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, and Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park, among others. Mr. Ryan received his BFA from Southern Methodist University, where he was a National Merit Scholar, and his MFA from the University of California at San Diego. Adam Schroeder (Lucio, Measure for Measure; Speed, The Two Gentlemen of Verona) In 2008 Adam’s first professional acting job was with Shakespeare Santa Cruz and he is honored to return for the 2017 season. He would like to thank Art Manke and Mike Ryan for their support and effort to bring him back to this special place. Since his first appearance at SSC he has gone on to work at The Utah Shakespeare Festival, The Williamstown Theatre Festival, PCPA Theaterfest, New Swan Shakespeare, The Western Stage, and StageWorks Fresno.
