Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s Student Matinee Week
The Comedy of Errors
Bring your students to a rousing performance of a Shakespeare play, and experience the magic that happens in live theatre! The 2019 Student Matinee Play is The Comedy of Errors.
Our second annual Student Matinee Week will begin on August 28, 2019! During the final week of our season, a professional production of one of Shakespeare’s plays will remain open for five student-only matinee performances running from August 28-29, and September 3-5. These 10am matinees are for students and their chaperones only, and include a post-show discussion with the actors after each performance. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every single high school student in the Santa Cruz County has seen a live, professional production of one of Shakespeare’s plays by the time they graduate!
Thank you to everyone who made the 2018 Student Matinee Week a success! We had over 1,000 students and teachers attend a live theatre performance of Romeo & Juliet, and we are so excited for this year’s potential.

Suitability for Youth: Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s production of The Comedy of Errors has a plot twist involving a town prostitute and some risqué comedy. This production overall will be a delightful and silly romp, and is suitable for middle and high school students.

There will be shade cloth protecting the bulk of theater seating for matinee performances, although hats and sunscreen are still highly recommended.
